Case Study: Penn State Forestry Building

To find a building project that displays great architectural innovation I looked coast to coast and couldn’t find a better example than Penn State’s The Forest Resources Building. On November 9, S.A.I.D. took a field trip to the Pacific Design Center. We visited ten showrooms in five hours. The showrooms included Giati Designs, David Sutherland, A. Rudin, Mimi London, Arc-Com Fabrics, Ralph Pucci, Century Furniture Paston/Rawleigh/Everette Micucci and Moura Starr.The most stunning showroom was Moura Starr. This showed furniture, lighting, wallpaper, and fine art. When the St. Joseph Hospital in Orange decided to build a new cancer center, their patients were the inspiration. When one has to deal with, what could be considered one of the hardest things in life, cancer, this hospital has tried to bring some sense of peace to their lives with the interior design of their new building. The new Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatment has been up and running for two years. As I mentioned before, the inspiration for the interior design concept was to make the patients and their families feel that they are in a healing environment where they can feel peaceful and at home while they wait and receive treatment.
