Kirk Kapital A/S’ Building
Artist Olafur Eliasson has
designed fort-like headquarters to rise out of the sea for a Danish investment
company.
Located
in the harbor-side town of Vejle, the building
have a curved brick facade with sliced oval recesses. It is accessed from the marina via a new
footbridge.
Kirk Kapital A/S’s
offices occupy the upper floors of the building, while a publically accessible
cafe and gallery are
situated on the ground floor. Studio
Olafur Eliasson is also collaborating with architects Lundgaard &
Tranberg and landscape architects Vogt on
a masterplan for the entire marina, which will be complete by 2016.
The
building is asymmetric. The outside is covered by dark brown bricks. By
contrary, the windows are all curving glass without frames.

Wow, amazing building. The shape reminds me of the binocular building that Frank Gehry built in Santa Monica.
Somehow the shape and color of the building remind me as corals in the sea..Interesting place to work in.
The shape of the building is unique, the asymmetric design makes the building special. And it is on the water so the building has inverted image on the water.
This is such a fun building. It is amazing to see the curved lines that are possible with materials such as brick and glass.
